Blythe to Wickenburg, AZ - 116 miles - 3,045 ft of climbing - 7:03 in the saddle

A long day in the saddle and I am tired tonight!

A cool morning launch from Blythe quickly brought us to the Arizona state line.  The first of 12 state lines we cross over the course of the trip.

And mercifully it brought us to the last 30+ miles on I-10.  This pic shows a very clean shoulder of the Interstate.  Most places it is full of old tire tread, tools, bungees, chains, trailer hitches, rakes, brooms and about anything else you can imagine.

Here is a video of what it feels like to ride on that shoulder with semi trucks thundering by!

Once we got off I-10, we were on a 2 lane highway that seemed to go on forever

But I took time to enjoy the expansive scenery

Thankfully the last 10 miles into Wickenburg was a fast downhill.  Then a quick change and off to a group dinner

Tomorrow’s mileage will be a lot shorter, but a very full day of climbing through a mountain pass.
Stay tuned!
