Day 43 - Buffalo, NY to Victor, NY - 79 miles - 2,854 feet of climbing - 4:30 hours in the saddle
Sunshine….Tailwind….Fasties….Milestone
What a spectacular day! After battling rain for the last several rides, today was cycling paradise for me.
Cool - Temps in the high 50’s to low 70’s
Sunny - Brightens the outlook
Tailwind - Most of the day, it pushed us along!
Hills - Manageable shorter hills to keep it interesting. Curious about what’s on the other side!
Sights to see - Farms and small towns kept me engaged
Scenes from the road….
I rode out with the Fasties this morning and hung with them until Sag 1 (mile 20). I even contributed with a 2.5 mile pull into SAG 1. At SAG 1 we celebrated pedaling 3,000 miles! It seems unreal that we really have cycled from the West Coast and are just 400 miles away from the East Coast (and at a diagonal across the country!) Quite an accomplishment for all the tour riders!
A few hills today, but not bad. Hills can be intimidating from afar, but as you get closer many times it is not as long or as steep as it first appears. Take the hill in the pic below. When I got closer, it was more of a stair step hill, with a up, then leveling, then another up. Breaking that hill down into sections and the use of my gearing made it quite manageable! I hope I am feeling the same way when we hit the mountains in Vermont and Western Mass.
Scenes from the cute small villages of Avon and Honeoye….
